Internal Tooth Whitening

If a tooth has darkened following root canal treatment, internal whitening can be an effective solution. This procedure involves reopening the original access point in the tooth, placing a whitening gel inside, and sealing it temporarily. The process may need to be repeated two or three times at weekly intervals for optimal results.

The whitening gel, typically containing hydrogen peroxide, penetrates the tooth and breaks down the discoloured molecules from within—restoring a more natural appearance. Once the desired shade is achieved, the access point is permanently sealed with a tooth-coloured filling.

Teeth Whitening Aftercare

Proper aftercare is essential to maintain the results of your professional teeth whitening treatment for as long as possible.

  • Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste for at least two minutes
  • Floss daily to remove plaque and prevent staining between teeth
